A comparison of the Coulomb gauge and Lorentz gauge magnetic vector potential formulations for 3D eddy current calculations

Formulations for the finite difference method (FDM) and BIEM using the Coulomb gauge and Lorentz gauge magnetic vector potentials are presented and numerically tested for two 3-D eddy current problems. It is conducted from the computed results that the computational accuracy is almost the same for the Coulomb gauge and Lorentz gauge for formulations, and that the Lorentz gauge formulation is superior to the Coulomb gauge formulation in terms of the computation time.<>
