Joint ventures in energetic plants

Industrial power plants located in one area are frequently equipped with their own boiler installations when one common boiler installation serving several industrial customers, i.e. a joint venture could be more advantageous. The author carries out an economic analysis of such an installation, comparing it with separate plants. Differences in construction costs, fixed costs, and variable costs are considered, and the economic advantages of a common boiler installation are discussed. A simplified scheme for a combined plant for generating electric and thermal power is presented as an example.<>
