Radar equation and signal design for the electromagnetic missile

Summary form only given. The radar equation and the signal design for the electromagnetic missile (EMM) were obtained based on the characteristics of the EMM. A range-velocity resolution function or Woodward's ambiguity function was obtained analytically. It was shown that the radar equation, the signal design, and the range-velocity resolution function are different from those for ordinary radar. A suitable radar signal for the EMM is pulse-position coding, which is different from the ordinary radar signal. The range resolution is about several centimeters for the EMM. The range-velocity function approaches the ideal thumbtack function.<>
