Portable digital NDT instrumentation

Many computerised NDT instruments just use the computer to digitally set the functions of a standard ultrasonic flaw detector. The amplitude or arrival time of the selected ultrasonic echo is then digitised and recorded. The paper is limited to a new generation of portable instruments that digitally capture the whole of the ultrasonic A-scan. A number of such instruments have been developed over the last few years at The National NDT Centre that exploit the advantages that result from whole waveform capture.<
