Liddell Power Station plant improvement study: the refurbishment of AC and DC auxiliary systems switchgear

Liddell Power Station is a base-load coal-fired installation of 2000 MW capacity comprising 4*500 MW sets situated in the NSW Hunter Valley, Australia. The age of Liddell, its significant capacity, and its favourable location for fuel sourcing dictated it as a natural choice for a comprehensive life-extension study. The author discusses the AC and DC auxiliary systems switchgear refurbishment. The AC switchgear was of 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V. The DC switchgear was of 50 V and 110 V. A cost/benefit analysis is given of the refurbishment.<>
