Decision support systems approach to MBA curriculum design: forecasting MBA 2000

Decision support systems (DSS) have been promoted as useful aides for managerial decision makers in unstructured problem environments. It is also generally accepted, both by academics and the business community, that acquiring an MBA is a worthwhile aid for managerial decision-makers. In this context, the MBA curriculum can be viewed as the 'programming' of a manual MBA-DSS which is designed to give individuals the tools to deal with a future stream of unstructured problems. In the present work, the view of the MBA as a manual DSS is used to develop a DSS-based model of optimal MBA curriculum design and to utilize that model to interpret the evolution of the various business curricular in response to the continuing evolution of computer/communications technology.<>
