Development of a digital cellular system and a digital cordless telephone system in Japan

A digital cellular system is developed based on the Japanese Digital Cellular (JDC) standard and for introduction into the Tokyo area. Rapid progress is being made in the standardization and development of a second generation digital cordless telephone system. The paper presents the air-interface specifications and the features of these mobile communication systems.<>
