Refresher training material on alternator stability

Many advantages have been cited for the use of computer based training; most often these reasons relate to distance from learning centres, shift working, unfamiliarity with or long absence from conventional classroom learning. Grid control engineers fit all of these categories and their retraining requirement is technically well suited to 'intelligent tutoring'. The grid is the integrated power generation and transmission system of the electric utility. The author explains what grid control engineers do and looks at the pros and cons of CBT for handling their training. There are three main topics in the training material and all are outlined: alternator operating chart, equal area analysis and swing curve analysis.<>
