Application of sidewalk guys (power line poles)

The author describes a means to quickly determine the tension or uplift force on the anchor, the tension in the guy, the compression reaction in the guy strut, the bending moment in the pole, the axial compression load on the pole, and bearing load on the soil. Also included are allowable loads for commonly used pipe struts, guy strand, pole classes, and soil strengths for a range of soil properties.<>
