Numerical analysis of the property of a hybrid transducer type ultrasonic motor

A hybrid-transducer-type ultrasonic motor is analyzed numerically. The analysis model is based on the equivalent circuit expression of the longitudinal motion and torsional motion of the stator transducer and the rotor. In these equivalent circuits, the compliance of the contact regions is taken into account, in both the longitudinal and the shear direction. The compliance of the longitudinal direction causes the expansion of the contact period in an operation cycle. This effect increases the slip between the stator and the rotor. With the assumption of appropriate compliance at the contact region, the simulated no-load speed of the motor is in agreement with the experiment. The transient response is also simulated.<>
