Magnetooptical Properties of ZnMnTe Films Grown on Sapphire Substrates

In order to widen the band gap of A^II _1-xMn _xB^VI alloys and effectively use laser diodes that work at short wavelengths for Faraday rotation, we have studied ternary ZnMnTe films whose parent materials are ZnTe and MnTe compounds of wider gap. This paper reports the crystallographic and magnetooptical characteristics of ZnTe-based magnetic semiconductor films grown epitaxially on C-cut sapphire substrates or deposited on quartz glass substrates
