Structural radar absorbent materials

Much of the theory of composite materials was developed by Cox in 1952 and can be applied equally to wood, paper or 'high tech' synthetic stealth materials. Hence the concept of the composite material ship is not new. HMS Victory, and her predecessors, were constructed of 'English Oak'. Timber was used also for many parts of the on board weapons systems. The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of the science and technology of low observable composites and the interplay of physical and electrical properties in the context of advanced Structural Radar Absorbent Materials (SRAM) for the military environment.<>
