Active three-phase rectifier for aircraft equipment

With the introduction of the variable frequency (VF) supply system in today's aircraft like the Airbus A380, the restrictions on the distortions produced by electric equipment have been intensified. To meet these requirements, the conventional six-pulse diode bridges for three-phase loads have to be replaced by suitable concepts which lead to a near resistive input behaviour of the power electronic stages. This paper proposes a 2 kW active three-phase rectifier for an electric drive integrated into the trolley lift conveyance system of the new Airbus A380.
