UWB pulse design using the approximate prolate spheroidal wave functions

Coexistence and compatibility is an important issue needed to be considered in ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio communications. To avoid interference, one of the efficient methods is to design appropriate pulse-waveform. An optimized pulse design method is proposed as UWB pulse shapes by using the approximate prolate spheroidal wave functions (APSWF). The APSWF pulse meets the power spectral constraint of the FCC's spectral mask. Its mathematical expression is simple and explicit.
