Tools for the validation of conditional access functions in Eurocrypt

In order to meet new requirements in the marketing of television the CCETT a research centre within the France Telecom group, has defined a conditional access system for TV programmes called Eurocrypt which allows for a range of sales modes and supplies information to programme providers with a view to customer invoicing and the payment of copyright. This system was the result of research into cryptology and smart cards. Eurocrypt is integrated into improved television systems such as D2MAC and HDMAC. There are now upwards of ten different, independent manufacturers of D2MAC/Eurocrypt terminals, all of them requesting validation of their product. In order to comply with this request, the CCETT has developed a set of tests and validation tools for terminals built in accordance with these specifications.<>
