Performance report of micro-gap wire chamber in KEK PS E248 AIDA experiment

The micro-gap wire chamber (MGWC) was proposed and developed in order to use it in high rate experiment. This detector is made by printed circuit board technology and the round thin wire. The characteristics of this detector are fine wire spacing (0.5 mm) and narrow gap between anode-wire and cathode strip (50 micrometer). The manufactured detector has an effective area of 30 cm/spl times/10 cm, and it was used as a first tracking detector located just downstream a liquid hydrogen target in the KEK PS E248 Experiment. The rate capability and the position resolution were estimated from the acquired data. More than 97% of efficiency and the position resolution of 300 micrometer was achieved in the charged flux of more than 1/spl times/10/sup 4//mm/sup 2/s.
