Mediating interaction conflicts between network-provided and endpoint-provided telephony services

Unintended interactions between different telephony services are a common phenomenon in today's telephony networks. Solutions exist to mediate such conflicts among network-provided services. With the advent of VoIP, services traditionally provided by the network may now also run on intelligent VoIP endpoints. However, network-based service mediation solutions are typically not aware of endpoint-provided services nor can they control their behavior. In this paper, we discuss how the mediation of service interaction conflicts can be extended to support services provided by VoIP endpoints.
