Compact ultra wideband antipodal tapered slot antenna

A compact, planar, ultra wideband antipodal tapered slot antenna is presented. This antenna has an operating bandwidth in excess of a decade, from 2 GHz to beyond 20 GHz, and exhibits near constant gain and beamwidth over the entire operating band. The antenna and balun are 71.3 mm long and 53.5 mm wide.
