Modelling of sub-wavelength optical apertures in thin metal sheets via 3D transient Maxwell's equations

It is now becoming possible to model photonics devices via direct solution of Maxwell's equations. This is because advances in the mathematical methods used for radio-frequency electromagnetic computation, driven by military 'stealth' requirements, have produced a step increase in computational capability. In this paper we will apply these improved computational tools to the analysis of thin metal sheets with patterns of sub-wavelength holes drilled in.
