Recent advances in platinum silicide infrared focal plane arrays

Silicide focal plane array (FPA) technology continues to advance with better photodiodes, larger monolithic arrays and IR background limited cameras that have near television image quality. In this paper we outline these recent advances. We also discuss those parameters which limit present sensors and suggest work which could give a ten-fold improvement in camera sensitivity.
