Laser-induced fluorescent properties of europium-doped scandium orthophosphate phosphors for high-temperature sensing applications

Europium-doped scandium orthophospate (ScPO/sub 4/:Eu/sup 3+/) phosphors have been investigated for their temperature-dependent emission properties. It is shown that ScPO/sub 4/:Eu/sup 3+/ crystals can be utilized in thermophosphor thermometry up to 1200 degrees C. The fluorescence lifetime calibration curve of ScPO/sub 4/: Eu/sup 3+/ and its emission and excitation spectra measured as a function of increasing temperature are presented.<>
