Electrodeposition of FePt magnetic material and embedding into anodic alumina-nanoholes

A relatively stable electroplating bath containing H/sub 2/PtCl/sub 6/, FeCl/sub 2/, NaCl and ammonium-tartrate for the fabrication of L1/sub 0/ FePt magnetic materials is developed. It is found that the change of the annealing temperature from vacuum to H/sub 2/ brings about the improvement of the L1/sub 0/ FePt properties because of the reduction of Fe-O/sub x/ in the as-deposited films. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the embedded FePt materials in the alumina-nanoholes also form the excellent L1/sub 0/ ordered phase.
