Modeling of composite materials on the basis of conducting fibres

A numerical technique for calculating the polarizability of thin-wire elements is presented. The calculations are based on the integral equation method. The computation of the polarizability of spiral particles is performed and the comparison of its results with data based on the theory of circuits is carried out. The Maxwell-Garnett approach is used for the calculation of effective constitutive parameters of an artificial chiral composite consisting of a dispersion of spiral particles in free space. The opportunity to control its parameters by varying the geometry of the particles is shown.
