This digitally-controlled buck converter IC occupies 2 mm/sup 2/ active area in 0.25/spl mu/m CMOS, and the quiescent current is 4VA, representing more than a 3-fold improvement over the leading state-of-the-art analog approach. As a result, cellular phone standby time can be extended by up to 3 times.
