Fading simulations in channel modeling based on fast solutions of Maxwell equations

We have studied wave propagation in urban environment based on Monte Carlo simulations of Maxwell's equations. A UV multilevel partitioning method (UV-MLP) is used in the computations by combining with the multilevel steepest descent fast multipole method (ML/SD/FMM). The building profile is about 2 km long, the building heights are up to 10 m, and the frequency is 900 MHz. Numerical results are statistically analyzed to study the spatial variations including fast fading, shadow fading, and range dependence. The results are compared with the Rayleigh, Rician and lognormal distributions.
