A nearly dispersion-free Kerr shutter for femtosecond fluorescence spectroscopy

Fluorescence spectroscopy in the femtosecond regime has been dominated by up-conversion techniques. Now, however, set-ups based on the optical Kerr effect are competitive in time resolution and offer the advantage of a simultaneous acquisition of complete spectra. Here, a novel design for a Kerr based fluorescence spectrometer is presented featuring high optical throughput and minimal dispersion which results in short acquisition times.
