Why I hate base resistance [bipolar transistors]

Like many bumps on the electrotechnological landscape, the Gummel-Poon bipolar transistor model has remained in existence for both historical and technical reasons. An extended version of the model was incorporated into SPICE, which eventually became the dominant software tool for electronic circuit design. The Gummel-Poon base-resistence model began as an attempt to make a physically correct description of base resistance yet created more problems than it solved.
