On the generation and applications of the monopolar ("zeroth" like) mode in noncircular patches

The paper shows that a mode similar to the TM/sub 01/ in circular geometries can be also excited in noncircular patches, short circuited in the center; the rectangular geometry has been chosen for it. Most of the interesting characteristics and excellent behaviour of the TM/sub 01/ short circuited ring, mainly useful for mobile user terminals, have been also found in the proposed geometry.
