Applications of cascade nonlinearities to femtosecond pulse generation and propagation

In this paper we show that noninstantaneous Kerr-like phase shifts can be impressed on the fundamental pulse in the nonstationary limit, producing red or blue self-frequency shifts, which correspond to retarded or advanced nonlinear responses.
