Competition of the self-induced gratings on scattered TE- and TM-modes in AgCl-Ag films under off-normal incidence of a laser beam

In this paper, the focused laser beam on a thin photosensitive AgCl layer containing excess of Ag a competition of scattered TE/sub 0/ and TM/sub 0/ waveguide modes in generation and growth of spontaneous grating has been discovered and investigated. These gratings were formed on an interference pattern resulted from addition of the original beam field and a field of a waveguide mode scattered in the film.
