How to produce small-sized CD-ROM multimedia applications-simple guidelines

One of the biggest difficulties associated with the production of multimedia applications is the enormous amount of space (storage capacity) occupied by this sort of applications. In this paper we demonstrate, with a practical case, how is it possible, by following some simple guidelines, to produce attractive CD-ROM multimedia applications (with text, images, graphics, sound, animation and video) without occupying too much space. The practical case presented (multimedia application) was developed by a group of students, in the ambit of organizational multimedia, a course students take on their 4th year as part of the program, at the Escola Superior de Ciencias Empresariais (Higher School of Managerial Sciences), where the first author teaches. The model used for the planning, development and evaluation of the mentioned practical case (multimedia application) is also referred. The results obtained are presented and interpreted. Future developments are discussed.
