Analysis of influence of vehicle bodyshell on the characteristics of wire antennas using a new MoM-based EM/EMC solver

Near and far-zone characteristics of a grounded wire rod antenna are compared with those when installed in a car. The influence of car bodyshell on these characteristics is analyzed through numerical simulations. A new MoM-based code TriD (F.G. Bogdanov et al., Proc. IEEE VII Int. Seminar/Workshop DIPED-2002, pp. 113-117, 2002) is used for numerical calculations, and its validation is shown on experimental and comparison data. An applicability of the obtained results to other vehicle antenna problems is concluded.
