SiGe 43.2 Gb/s 4:1 multiplexor and clock multiplier for OC-768 fiber communications

We have developed a clock multiplying unit and 4 to 1 multiplexor (CMU/MUX 4:1) that operates up to 47 Gb/s. The on board VCO is LC tuned and the output clock jitter is 6 pspp. The eye diagram of the output is 400 mV swing with rise and fall times of less than 9 ps. This integrated circuit was processed in a 120 GHz BiCMOS 0.25 /spl mu/m process. Power dissipation is only 1 W for a chip area of 2 mm/sup 2/.
