Small-Scale Hydropower: Proposed Adjustable-Speed Cascaded Induction Generators that Will Meet Industrial and Environmental Needs

Large-scale hydroelectrical developments have become more and more difficult in many industrialized countries because of the shortage of undeveloped suitable sites and global environmental protection. However, there remain many sites suitable for small-scale hydroelectrical developments where “small-scale” denotes a power range from a few megawatts downward; for example, in Japan, approximately 2,400 potential sites remain.
