Convergence is a term that HAS received a great deal of airtime in recent years. Vendors, consultants, and industry pundits have been preaching for some time about the benefits to be derived from networks that support multiple services. While much of chat discussion has been somewhat subjective and vaporous in the past, recent developments in applications for Internet protocol (IP) enabled networks have made convergence an achievable, real-world goal.
