Assessment of the risk of damage due to lightning in the information systems

During the assessment of the risk of damage due to lightning in the information systems, some main factors should be taken into account, such as surroundings and importance of the information systems. This paper discusses a method of assessment and the selection of surge protective devices (SPDs). An example is provide in this paper to show how the risk assessment can be applied for a telecommunication site with an adjacent antenna mast.
