A simple coax-fed annular sector radiating element

Summary form only given. A comparatively simple method of feeding the planar annular sector element via a coaxial line has been developed. The probe is matched to the strip by a short cylindrical disk sleeve on the center conductor. This type of feeding has been successfully employed in a previous antenna designed for the Land Mobile Satellite System. This feed technique can be used to achieve moderate bandwidth (about 10%), which is sufficient for many applications, including the mobile antennas of the MSAT project at JPL/NASA. This element is very simple and economical to fabricate.<>
