Descriptor: Thermal sensor comparison on the MRC-100 satellite (MRC100SZTE)

The MRC-100 satellite mission, coordinated by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2023, enabled multiple Hungarian universities to space-qualify their experimental payloads aboard a 3PQ long PocketQube satellite. This article presents a comprehensive dataset of over 104,000 telemetry frames collected from the MRC-100, now publicly available on IEEE DataPort. The data were acquired using a custom ground station in Szeged, Hungary, and processed with the open-source smogcli2 software. In addition to describing the dataset’s collection and structure, we provide a detailed interpretation guide for telemetry from two payload modules developed by the University of Szeged (‘SZ1’ and ‘SZ2’), with a focus on temperature measurement systems. The ‘SZ1’ module combined thermistors, internal and external ADCs, and digital temperature sensors, while the ‘SZ2’ module utilized internal diagnostics and calibration-oriented measurements. This work fills a gap in publicly accessible interpretation methods for guest payloads on MRC-100 and supports further validation of thermal models and ADC calibration techniques. Comparisons with other public datasets reveal the superior size, completeness, and data integrity of this collection. Provided with interpretation scripts and structure documentation, this open-access resource supports satellite telemetry research, thermal modeling, and ADC calibration.
