Data-driven Adaptive Reaching Law Sliding Mode Control for Wind Turbine Pitch System

For onshore wind turbine power systems as nonlinear, a data-driven sliding mode control based on adaptive reaching law (DDSMC-ARL) based approach is suggested. Utilizing a compact form dynamic linearization (CFDL) data model, the method estimates the “pseudo partial derivatives (PPD)” based solely on I/O measurement data of the plants under control. The above control strategy is utilized to address issues with the collective pitch control of a 5 -Megawatt (MW) wind turbine, including power fluctuations brought on by erratic disturbances like wind speed. Using OpenFAST and MATLAB/Simulink joint simulation, significant improvements have been made in control performance and adaptability versus proportional-integral (PI) control and model-free adaptive controller (MFAC) featuring tracking error differential (DEMFAC) and has better control of power from generator, speed, etc. Different wind velocity conditions, can effectively inhibit the wind turbine’s oscillation phenomenon and improve the system’s stability, robustness, and response speed.
