Modified Lightweight GIFT Cipher for Secure and Efficient Cryptographic Applications in IoT

Lightweight cryptography methods are essential for securing resource-constrained environments like the Internet of Things (IoT).. An efficient and secure block cypher, the GIFT method has recently come under scrutiny. But it needs upgrades to make it more resistant to new dangers. To enhance dissemination and security, this paper introduces a variant of the GIFT cypher that incorporates bit-slice substitutions and involutivity permutations methods. To make key scheduling algorithms (KSA) less predictable, the suggested changes would increase the degree of unpredictability in generating round keys. A number of existing lightweight cryptography methods were tested in exhaustive simulations alongside the modified GIFT cypher, such as PRESENT, SIMON, and SKINNY. Throughput, power utilisation, time to execution, delays, and software effectiveness were some of the assessment parameters. Based on the outcomes, the updated GIFT cypher is ideal for Internet of Things, or IoT, apps due to its reduced latency, better throughput, and lower power usage. This improved cypher offers a practical cryptography solution for today's resource-constrained computer systems by maximising encrypted performance without sacrificing security. The results show that to make sure secure communications on limited networks, inexpensive cryptography needs constant upgrades. Comparatively to other models, the suggested GIFT approach has a general accuracy of 98%.
