Research on Variable Speed Limit Control Architecture for Highway Icy Pavement Conditions

In order to solve the problem of highway traffic safety and traffic efficiency under icy and snowy weather, this paper proposes a variable speed limit control architecture that responds to icy and snowy roads, aiming to reduce traffic accidents and improve traffic efficiency by dynamically adjusting the speed limit value. Its design includes modules such as data acquisition, speed limit target setting, and variable speed limit control. The data acquisition module acquires traffic data, weather data, and road condition data in real time; the speed limit target setting module performs risk assessment analysis and prediction based on the current traffic status and speed limit signal, and provides a setting range for subsequent variable speed limit control. The variable speed limit control module generates corresponding dynamic speed limit values according to different speed limit stages and issues instructions through the terminal; the feedback and optimization module continuously optimizes the speed limit strategy through real-time monitoring and evaluation. This architecture can effectively cope with the complex traffic environment under icy and snowy road conditions, ensure the balance between safety and traffic efficiency in the speed limit strategy, and continuously improve the adaptability and robustness of the system through a closed-loop control mechanism. The research in this paper provides a new reference solution for intelligent traffic management in severe weather.
