An Open Modular Architecture for Climate-Aligned Building Assessment: GRASSMed Green BOOCC Platform

The Mediterranean region faces mounting pressures from urban expansion, rising energy demands, and climate vulnerability. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires localized, scalable, collaborative and accessible solutions. This paper introduces GRASSMed Green Building Open Online Courses and Certification Platform, the first regionally tailored digital tool for advancing sustainable building practices, assessing, rating, and certifying green buildings across the Mediterranean region. the GRASSMed Green BOOCC Platform developed under the meetMED II project by the Lebanese Association for Energy Saving and for Environment (ALMEE), this free and open-access digital tool provides a structured approach to green building capacity-building, self-evaluation, and certification across the region — empowering local authorities, professionals, and citizens alike to transition toward greener, more climate-resilient construction practices. Beyond its technical functionalities, the GRASSMed Green BOOCC also serves as a cross-border platform for scientific exchange and collaborative research, fostering an open Mediterranean knowledge ecosystem.
