Self-Diagnosing Circuit Breakers Using Embedded Optical Fiber Sensors in Medium Voltage Systems

The research has discussed the design of a self-diagnostic circuit breaker system with embedded optical fiber sensors. The system implements real-time signal processing, advanced power protection and intelligent fault detection to enhance reliability, safety and predictive maintenance. It was functionally tested which confirmed its ability to interpret thermal and mechanical variations with high accuracy and minimal signal distortion. The multi-stage power supply system and energy protecting devices all worked effectively as an assembly when subjected to a simulated fault condition. The results show that the self-diagnosing circuit breaker system presented is a realistic and technically feasible approach to improve reliability in medium voltage networks
