Design of Reflecting Mode Polarization Grating Based on All-Metal Metasurface

The design approach of polarization gratings which are able to modulate the non-linear mode polarization to the linear polarization distribution is proposed in this paper. The grating is based on an all-metal metasurface, thus the proposed method can deal with arbitrary operating mode. A prototype of the polarization grating is designed for verification purpose, of which simulation results show that it manages to change the TE01 mode featuring a ring-like polarization to a linearly polarized beam, and the linear polarization purity reaches 95.3%. The results prove that the proposed metasurface grating can modulate the mode polarization efficiently, which can contribute to the spatial mode conversion application.
