Secure by Design: Strategic Approaches to Infrastructure as Code

Securing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a critical endeavor in today's dynamic and rapidly evolving technological landscape. IaC, with its emphasis on automating and codifying infrastructure deployment and management, introduces unique security challenges that require careful consideration and proactive measures. The overarching goal is to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of digital assets managed through IaC. This paper explores the comprehensive measures required to ensure the robust security of digital infrastructures managed through IaC. This study discusses the anatomy of a secure IaC environment, with an emphasis on the need for a proactive security stance throughout the IaC development life cycle. This paper also details the list of tools to be used at various phases of the infrastructure setup. With the proposed framework, it is noted that the security posture is improved, along with the reduction in effort to maintain IaC assets securely
