Gaining Sharing Knowledge Based Algorithm for Fixed Charge Transportation Problem

Transportation problem (TP) is a famous supply chain management problem which deals with the reduction of the cost in communication network, planning and scheduling transportation, logistics, and supply chain network systems. In real life, most of the scenarios contain a fixed cost (FC) that is not affected by shipped units. The Fixed Charge Transportation Problem (FCTP) can be treated as an extension of the original TP in which a FC is incorporated beside the shipping cost making the FCTP a NP-hard problem which is too difficult to find the global optimum solution using heuristic methods. This paper introduces the Gaining Sharing Knowledge based (GSK) Algorithm for solving FCTP with decoding and allocation procedures (DAPs) to make sure finding a feasible solution. Numerical experiments results indicate that GSK may be a good choice for solving FCTPs in addition to other alternatives.
