Mismatch Current Extraction Technique Using Multi Input Single Output DC-DC Converter to Enhance the Performance of the Partially Shaded Photovoltaic Array

Solar photovoltaic power generation is the promising clean energy source to power up the upcoming energy crisis. The major cause for the power loss in the solar PV array is ununiform irradiation condition among the PV modules. The mismatching current caused due to the partial shading condition and limit the string and overall output current generated from the PV array. This proposed technique proposed to integrate a Multi Input Single Output (MISO) DC-DC converter to extract the mismatch current from the healthy module to balance the string current in the overall system. This mismatch current extraction technique will enhance the overall performance of the PV array by reducing the mismatching loss in the system. This proposed technique is tested and validated for the 90W capacity 3 x 3 solar PV array in the MATLAB/SIMULINK platform. The zero-mismatch loss can be for the testing shading scenario can be achieved. The 30% power loss also can be minimized when compared with the conventional configurations.
