Risk-Free MCU Booting: An Approach to MCU Address Re-Mapping Boot Methodology

The Microcontroller Unit (MCU) has attracted significant attention and is extensively employed in diverse electronic devices. During its operational lifecycle, situations necessitating Over-the-Air (OTA) upgrades frequently arise. However, this procedure entails potential risks such as boot failure of newly upgraded programs due to inherent software errors or incomplete firmware flashing caused by unexpected power interruptions during the update process. The conventional AB partition boot methodology proves insufficient in comprehensively addressing these challenges. This paper proposes a dynamic mapping strategy to effectively resolve these issues. By implementing three control registers and dynamically assigning values through systematic evaluation of boot mode control signal status variations, we achieve precise AB partition boot control. This methodology substantially mitigates operational risks associated with OTA upgrade processes.
