An Advanced Digital Genetic Circuit System For Stroke Detection

Stroke—also referred to as cerebrovascular disease, cerebral stroke, or cerebrovascular accident—is a prevalent and severe condition worldwide. To date, no existing diagnostic method combines low operational thresholds, minimal risk, low cost, and high accuracy in stroke detection. Accordingly, in this study we first applied rigorous statistical analyses to identify an optimally predictive combination of stroke biomarkers. Building on this, we introduced the concept of a "digital gene circuit" system—integrating synthetic gene circuits with digital logic—to design a fully integrated and intelligent stroke detection platform. This system has demonstrated a reduction in detection time by over 83% compared to comparable biomarker-based assays. Moreover, our optimal detection scheme outperforms conventional CT and MRI protocols as well as several of the latest global research developments. We have also realized an initial hardware implementation of the system, marking a significant step toward practical deployment.
