Design and Analysis of Optical Fiber Backbone Network for Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) Phase 2A

This paper discusses the design and performance analysis of an optical fiber communication system for the Jakarta LRT Phase 2A project, linking Pegangsaan Dua to the Jakarta International Stadium. The system uses G.652.D standard single-mode fiber and 1000BASE-LX SFP transceivers operating at 1310 nm and 155.52 Mbps with NRZ encoding. Manual calculations were validated with OptiSystem simulations. The power budget analysis shows received power levels around -7 dBm, above the sensitivity threshold of -23 dBm, ensuring reliable signal reception. The rise-time analysis indicates total system rise times of 0.3679 to 0.3683 ns, well below the 4.501 ns maximum allowable, confirming minimal distortion. Bit Error Rate (BER) and eye diagram evaluations further confirm the reliability and performance of the system for critical railway communication.
